Alliance Banking

Mercantile Bank, as a financial services provider, supports the Alliance Partner brand dominance and is therefore able to contribute to their competitiveness since Mercantile Bank is not competing with Alliance partners for customers given the non-predatory approach of the Alliance Banking Division of Mercantile Bank.

Our Alliance Banking Card Division’s key focus is to provide financial transaction processing services to Alliance partners in the debit and credit card environment. This division has excess processing capabilities and capacity to support the growth strategy of the Alliance partners’ VISA Credit Card.

Mercantile Bank is totally flexible in responding to our partners' needs as regards structure and support for the venture, i.e. we can entertain a range of structures from processing only to a fully-fledged joint venture with appropriate parameters acceptable to both parties. In addition, other banking products, in accordance with the partners' needs, can also be offered on a similar basis through the Alliance Banking division.

Product development is based on the needs of our Alliance partners and their customers. Mercantile Bank endeavours to meet these requirements in line with suitable returns generated for both parties. Our strategy would be to agree with our partners' objectives and to then formulate development needs accordingly.

Mercantile Bank’s philosophy in having quick and flexible decision-making processes is an important value-add to the Credit Card Business. Systems alignment is a further important value-add given our philosophy of tailoring requirements to meet partners’ needs based on viability.

Mercantile Bank manages the relationship with the card association, i.e. VISA. It includes aspects relating to marketing assistance and activities managed by the card association. Alliance partners, however, need to be actively involved. All marketing material is to be submitted to Mercantile Bank for approval in terms of SARB and card association rules and regulations.

Drive Card

The Drive Card is the only card you will need on the road as it is linked to your vehicle for enhanced security. It has been designed for fast, efficient and safe vehicle-related transactions.

You can use it to pay for emergency repairs and spares as well as fuel, oil and other vehicle expenses. You can even use it to pay toll fees – and, of course, it’s safer than carrying cash.

The Drive Card is linked to your credit card. Linked monthly statements detail your transactions.
