BANK@bility uses three internationally recognized security standards to protect your information.

Data Encryption Standard (DES) - This is the international standard for securing banking transactions and is supplied in its most secure mode.
Digital Signature Standard (DSS) - This is used to generate and verify digital signatures.
Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA) - Used in conjunction with DES and DSS, this ensures the integrity and security of the information communicated through the digital network.

These sophisticated security systems ensure that your electronic banking relationship with us is always completely secure.

All of the information which travels between your PC and our mainframe systems is both encrypted and authenticated.
Encryption ensures that no third party (including bank personnel) can read your private financial information or your electronic transactions with the bank.
Authentication ensures that the integrity of your information and transactions cannot be tampered with.

Access to BANK@bility and the release of payments are obtained by authorised security levels ie. (Operators and Signatories).

Operators: Have limited access to the entire system and they are not permitted to authorise payments.
Signatories: When setting up signatories on BANK@bility, if required they can be set up as either an A or B signatory.
Any two A signatories or an A and a B signatory can release payments. This provides the ability to categorize the signatories for the releasing of payments.

At Mercantile Bank we make use of an advanced password system - based upon a patented technique - to ensure that only authorised access to your account is permitted. This technique ensures that your password is never communicated across the network, never stored in your personal computer and never known or stored at Mercantile Bank.

You select your own password and can change it at your discretion.

Provided you never reveal this password - only you can use BANK@bility to access and perform transactions through your accounts.
